This homeowner in West Windsor, NJ had an attic hatch that was not properly insulated or air sealed. The owner was paying more for their energy bills because conditioned air was consistently leaking into the attic. We air sealed the attic floor and the framing of the attic hatch using orange ZypFoam sealant. Our team created retaining walls to contain the TruSoft cellulose insulation that we blew-in. Next we created a catwalk and dense packed underneath the catwalk using TruSoft insulation. The catwalk is used to help the homeowner or technician reach any of the mechanicals for maintenance purposes. Finally to create a better air tight entrance we installed our SilverGlo insulation boards onto the attic hatch door.

The attic of a Manchester Township home had insufficient insulation, relying on exposed fiberglass that provided little protection. Our inspection uncovered problems with air sealing and ductwork leaks, which commonly lead to high utility bills and homeowner discomfort. To tackle these issues, our team used ZypFoam for air sealing, mastic tape for duct sealing, built retaining walls, and applied TruSoft cellulose insulation, resulting in an impressive R-60 insulation value. Our customer in Englishtown, NJ needed our help with insulating their attic. Looking at the before picture we can see dirt built up on the fiberglass insulation where the roof meets the attic floor. Remember fiberglass insulation does next to nothing to insulate.

A homeowner in Manalapan Township, NJ had a poorly insulated kneewall space. The entrance to the kneewall space was on the 2nd floor in the owner’s spare room’s closet. Our team inspected the kneewall space and found dirty fiberglass insulation. Dirty fiberglass insulation can be signs of air leaking through the insulation. The attic can reach temperatures over 140 degrees. If the owner’s ducts are leaky and the AC air handler is pumping hot attic air back into the house, then this can explain why the owner cannot maintain a properly conditioned home.

Our team of experts replaced all the trunks, ducts and the AC air handler with new ones. Once the equipment is properly installed and we remove all the old insulation, we will air seal the attic by using our orange ZypFoam sealant. A homeowner in Manalapan Township, NJ had an AC air handler completely replaced. Looking at the AC air handler we can see how poorly in shape the unit was. The door of the old unit wouldn’t close and was riddled with leaks. This unit was in terrible shape! We were able to replace the AC air handler with a brand new unit. By installing the unit near the gable wall and along the roofs edge the owner gained more room for storage. The old unit would circulate hot attic air back into the unit causing the hot attic air to circulate into the conditioned rooms. Finally after replacing the old unit, we connected the trunks, ducts and sealed the connections or seams to code with mastic tape and sealant. This homeowner now has a more comfortable and energy efficient home.

A conditioned room with an adjoining wall to the attic in Manalapan Township, NJ had exposed fiberglass insulation. Exposed fiberglass insulation does next to nothing to insulate. We can see evidence of this by the dirt built up on the exposed fiberglass insulation. The homeowner’s main comfort issues are in the conditioned adjoining room to the attic. If the attic isn’t air sealed, insulated, and ventilated properly the attic air will circulate through the attic and into the conditioned room. We installed our SilverGlo insulation panels which have a radiant barrier to reflect heat and the polystyrene foam is infused with graphite giving it a 24% higher insulation value per inch than standard EPS foam. In this after picture we are still in the process of insulating the rest of the attic.

In Freehold Township, NJ, a homeowner faced discomfort due to conditioned air leaking through an exposed interior attic wall, causing temperature extremes in the adjoining room. We resolved this issue by installing SilverGlo insulation boards and sealed with orange ZypFoam in key areas. This included applying and sealing SilverGlo on the attic side of interior walls. Completing the transformation, we air-sealed and insulated the attic with TruSoft cellulose, achieving an R-value of R-60. This homeowner in Freehold Township, NJ had a large poorly insulated cathedral ceiling with two skylights. We can see dirty exposed fiberglass insulation doing next to nothing to insulate the adjoining walls. Also the cathedral ceilings have exposed fiberglass insulation leaving outside air to circulate or leak through the rafters and into the attic creating an uncomfortable room.

To solve this issue we installed our SilverGlo insulation panels onto the adjoining walls of the cathedral ceiling and skylights. Using orange ZypFoam sealant we air sealed the whole attic floor and seams of the SilverGlo insulation panels. Next using TruSoft cellulose insulation our team dense-packed the adjoining walls and the slope of the roof to help insulate the cathedral ceiling. Finally we blew-in TruSoft insulation onto the attic floor to complete the insulation. This house is now more comfortable and energy efficient.

The before photo shows a typical crawl space that meets local building code. However if left as is, this would create moisture, mold, rot and indoor air quality problems.  The crawl is vented and has a 6 mil plastic liner, as per local code. The problem is that warm air moves moves toward colder air. Warm summer air moves through the vents into nice cool crawl space. As the warm air cools, the relative humidity rises 2.2% for every degree it cools. The result is high levels of moisture, on all surfaces, condensation on wood framing, fiberglass insulation and actual pooling on top of the plastic liner.  Water below a house is bad!   You can see where all the summer time puddles evaporated on top of the liner. That moisture went directly into the living space. In winter conditions the air blows right through open vents freezing floors above.
