Hello everyone!  I wanted to pass this along in case anyone was interested in having their home checked through this special incentive.  Since we moved in, we have had challenges with high propane bills, drafty rooms, air leakage, etc and wanted to get a professional audit so I could figure out ways to conserve and be more comfortable.  We had our audit done today.  Our Energy Consultant was Kevin Knowles from "Dr. Energy Saver."  He did an extremely thorough audit of the whole house which included an evaluation of the crawl space, attic, blower door test (to test for actual percentage of air leakage), and he used thermal imaging to detect areas of missing/low insulation and leakage in walls and around base boards.  He was extremely knowledgeable, and I could tell he took his job seriously and cared about giving us great customer service.  Generous tax credits and rebates from Delmarva are anticipated for 2012, so any work you may want to have done will become more affordable as well as increase comfort and allow the potential to save on monthly energy bills. If you call, please ask for Kevin and tell them Tina and Brandon Squibb sent you!  Good luck, Tina :0)

Ron A. first learned about Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva and everything we do when visiting our booth at a local health fair. A few months later he was ready to call us in to get his Newark. DE home evaluated and solve some comfort issues they have been experienced. During the inspection, our technicians found some insulation deficiencies in the garage, the attic and the crawl space. There was also mold in the crawl space, something that Ron didn't know before the inspection. The garage was insulated and the attic received 25 extra inches of blown cellulose to bring it up to the recommended R-Value for the region. The crawl space was insulated, sealed and a dehumidifier now controls humidity in the area to keep mold from coming back.

Eid was such a wonderful person to work with. He covered all that amount of material and made it interesting. He is a person of integrity and I really appreciated that. He was very trusting of what he told me. The production crew was very conscientious, nice and helpful. They worked very hard, knew what they were doing and it [crawl space] looks great! Bubba had a great approach to make sure the work was quality work! Paula bought a wireless thermometer for the crawl space and installed it after the work was completed and she said the crawl space was 10 degrees warmer than the outside temperature. She was appreciative of the confidence in our company from the production crew, to the sales representative and even 3rd party reviews.

Hello Troy -   Just wanted to let you know that we received our Radon test results post mitigation installation.  If you recall, our basement is divided into three sections.  Two unfinished sections and the other finished.  We placed a test kit in each of the sections and closed the doors.  One test result was Less than .9pCi/L and the other two were 1.1pCi/L.   Nice job by the Lawson Team that installed the system!   Charlie DiPietroantonio

"Good at what they do, very knowledgeable staff. I had a lot in common with the man that came to do my audit. The blower door test as part of a home energy audit is something I recommend everyone to get; it is quite the experience. Appointments tend to be very far out; plan accordingly."

Ruthea Miller is the owner of Miller Mauro, a successful Graphic Design studio in business for over 30 years in Wilmington, DE. In this video she speaks about her experience with Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva, and how the company helped turn an office remodeling nightmare into a New Year's day story to remember. It all started when her partner and husband called in some contractors to remove the ceiling above the kitchen in their Silverside Rd. office. When the ceiling was removed an 20-inch layer of loose-fill insulation fell all over the kitchen floor and created a messy dust cloud all over the building. It was a weekend at the end of December and Ruthea started to call companies for help with cleaning up the mess. Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva was the only company that called them back. Not being able to come on a Tuesday as scheduled due to an equipment problem, the company offered to come on New Year's Day for the cleanup, and so they did. After the thorough cleanup was performed, the kitchen and other areas of the building were also insulated with spray foam. According to Ruthea the difference in comfort is noticeable and the office is much warmer during the winter.

Cathie & I are very satisfied by the work Dr. Energy Saver did in our home. The initial audit was very thorough and the rep pointed out a lot of areas that we could improve on our home to save heat. Due to our tight budget at the time, we could only afford 2 of the 8 recommendations; installing a return vent in a room with only an intake vent, and sealing up our entire attic area of any leaks. Their crew came in and spent most of the day doing both. The two guys were very professional, friendly, and knew their stuff. The next day, my wife and I noticed a significant difference in the temperature in our home. Our living room area used to always be 80-90 degrees in the summer, unless we cranked the air conditioning thermostat below 71, which led to big bills. After they did their work, our living room is now a comfortable 73-79 degrees in the summer without having the thermostat below 73 [degrees]. So, I am quite pleased, and when I have the finances, I plan to have 2-3 more projects done by them.

    Attic Insulation in Chester, MD

This homeowner in Chester, MD was suffering from old, dirty attic insulation. This may seem like a minor problem, but the results turn into major problems. Over the years, old attic insulation collects dust, dirt, pollen, bugs, etc.

It's time to get rid of the old insulation and welcome the new! Dr. Energy Saver can remove a homeowners old insulation and replace it with new TruSoft Cellulose Insulation

The new TruSoft Cellulose Insulation also helps the homeowner with their vented attic. Vented attics allow air to leak from inside the home through the attic floor. Once the air from within the home reaches the attic it is lost. This causes drafty rooms, cold floors and higher fuel and electric bills.

With the new TruSoft Cellulose Insulation being installed the homeowner can now receive results such as warmer floors, less drafty rooms and lower fuel/electric bills.

Dr. Energy Saver focuses strictly on the homeowner needs inside the home while finding any health or durability concerns. If our home comfort specialist finds anything that could potentially affect the living conditions inside the home, we bring it to your attention.

These homeowners in Chester, Maryland were suffering from high energy cost and microbial growth coming from their crawl space.

Our solution to fix that problem involved us spray foaming the rim joist inside the crawl space, adding CleanSpace Drainage Matting, our exclusive Everlast Crawl Space Door, and Silver-Glo on the walls. Ensuring the homeowner needs were met and another successful Dr. Energy Saver Project!

Keeping this home comfortable year around in Chester, Maryland

Keeping your home comfortable year around can be stressful. With air finding the path of least resistance, the money that you are spending on heating and cooling could increase if your home isn't probably insulated.

The homeowner of this home located in Chester, Maryland, very aware of his leaky home called Dr. Energy Saver out to figure out a way to make his house more energy efficient.

Upon the inspection, we came across multiple problems related to why he was experiencing discomfort inside his home and also some health risk. There was little to no insulation inside of his attic causing the air he paid to heat and cool his house to travel through the living space and out into the attic. Also a big eye opener for both, the homeowner and our specialist was that the bath fan was vented straight into the attic causing humidity levels to rise and microbial growth started to form.

Dr. Energy Saver then came in and first, removed the previous insulation inside of the attic then vented his bath fan to the exterior of his home. This prevents microbial growth growing all over your roof deck, rafters, and ceiling joist. Next we converted the attic into conditioned space by installing 3' of closed-cell spray foam to the roof deck. This will make your home less drafty, more comfortable, warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer. Also lowering your fuel and electric bills!

Dr. Energy Saver has now fixed this homeowners problem of comfort inside of his home and disintegrated the microbial growth in the process.

Attic Insulation in Rock Hall, MD

Jerry’s home was not that comfortable.  He had recently upgraded his HVAC equipment to help heat and cool the home and wanted to make sure he was reaping the most benefits possible. (Upgrading your equipment won’t necessarily solve your problem if you are losing conditioned air to the exterior of your home envelope.)

We noticed some accent features (what we label as adjacent attic walls) in his ceiling that had less insulation than other areas.  On top of that his whole attic really needed more insulation and to be air sealed to decrease conditioned air (heated/cooled air you are paying for) escaping from the home.  Jerry also had a significant amount of duct work in the attic, so on top of his other improvements, we increased the efficiency and effectiveness by covering them in closed cell spray foam.

Crawlspace Encapsulation in Rock Hall, MD

This home in Rock Hall, MD underwent a Clean Space™ crawlspace encapsulation by Lawson Home Services. Take a look at the difference in the before and after photos.

Homes in the past were built with ventilated crawlspaces. But looking back with the information we have today, we see how this resulted in big problems: cold floors in winter, and mold formation in the musty damp dirt-floor crawlspace that leads to rotting of the wooden structures. And that's just the start of the problems. The mold gives off spores in dry fall and winter weather, dangerous allergens that can result in sinus problems and asthma for sensitive occupants. No wonder everyone gets sick in the winter.

The occupants of this home will be more comfortable and healthier this winter, and will begin to see lower utility bills. That's a win-win situation all the way around!

Making the upstairs more comfortable in Wittman, Maryland

Homeowners in Wittman, Maryland were not happy about their HVAC system not properly cooling the house. The lack of insulation and the amount of open air penetrations inside of the attic were causing the owners misery by high fuel and electric bills.

They called Dr. Energy Saver who came out and inspected their home and informed the couple on the necessary steps it would take to fix their uncomfortable home.

We then arrived at the home, immediately getting to work.  We installed our Cap Existing Insulation with TruSoft Cellulose. This involves blowing cellulose over the bed of fiberglass insulation. The bed of fiberglass is then compressed by the heavy cellulose and adds to the R-Value(the capacity of an insulating material to resist heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power). This results in a more comfortable house and lowers your fuel and electric bills.

Dryer Duct Clean out in Grasonville, MD

Homeowner's in Grasonville, MD., needed to have their ducts cleaned. Homeowner's tend to forget about the other aspects of their home because they don't see them every day comapred to the other rooms in their home.

In a six room home, up to 40 pounds of dust is created every day. The dust is pulled into the HVAC system and re-circulated 5-7 times per day. This ongoing process creates contaminants in the duct work. This can cause allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems.

To solve this problem, Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva will clean and aeroseal the duct work to prevent future leakage.

The process begins by a camera being lowered into the duct work. The camera shows live video footage of how the ducts look. This determines if the ducts need to be cleaned or not. Next, the registers are taken off to be cleaned. Then, the duct work is cleaned with a 360 circular rotating brush called the Rotobrush. This brush cleans every angle of the duct work thoroughly. The dust and dirt is then collected into a vacuum. Finally, the duct work is treated with an antimicrobial treatment.

Homeowners in Queenstown, MD contacted Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva because they had concerns about the consistently wet condition of their crawl space. In order to correct the problem and prevent any further water damage the production crew installed a drainage system around the perimeter of the crawl space. The drainage system will collect and carry water to the SmartSump removing it from the crawl space. After installing the drainage system the crew encapsulated the crawl space complete with CleanSpace liner on the floor and SilverGlo rigid foam board insulation on the walls with spray foam air sealing in the rim joists.
