Geothermal System Installation & Replacement

Save money and help the environment with geothermal heating & cooling

Geothermal heat pumps are an increasingly popular option for many homeowners, thanks to their ability to help the environment and low energy bills. These systems cool or warm your home using a loop of piping installed below the ground and filled with liquid. The liquid in this system pulls the warmth from the ground into your home during the heating season and pulls warm air from your home into the ground during the cooling season. Therefore it primarily transfers heat, allowing even temperatures without burning fuels or otherwise using much energy.

A geothermal heating and cooling system can also help you save money thanks to the variety of tax incentives in place for these eco-friendly systems. The actual cost of installation however, is still expensive. While the exact price can vary based on climate, soil, regulations, size of your home, and more, costs tend to range between $10,000 and $30,000. Geothermal systems will last about 18 to 23 years and generally pay for themselves between two to ten years, providing you more than a decade of savings.

Choose the best type of heat pump for your property

  • Horizontal System: In this layout, layered coils of pipe are placed in deep trenches outside your home. This is often the most common layout and is the cheapest underground option, but it is quite demanding in terms of space.
  • Vertical System: This system consists of deep, but narrow holes where pipes are inserted and then connected at the bottom. This allows for a loop to be created with very little space, but it is also the most expensive option.
  • Pond System: While being the cheapest option, this system can only be installed if you have a pond or lake on your property that is at least 8 feet deep. The coils are laid in the pond and take their heat from the water rather than the soil.
