• Stain is different in that it doesn’t sit on top of the material, like paint will. Stain actually sinks into the grain of the wood and changes the color from the outside in. Once applied, a sealant should be added over the top to properly protect the wood from the effects of the elements. Stain also comes in various colors, however they are more limited to the amount of paint color options there are. With stains however, they come in various different stains, such as Maple, Oak, Mahogany, Pine, and Chestnut.
