If you are noticing cracked bricks, especially if they are part of a wall in your home, you should immediately reach out to a qualified brick repair contractor. Not only are cracked bricks aesthetically displeasing, but they can also indicate serious underlying issues.

The first thing your contractor will likely do is examine the cracked brick wall or structure to determine the exact cause. While one or two cracked bricks may simply indicate an issue with those bricks, a series of cracks, or one really long crack, could indicate a foundational problem. There are three main types of large cracks to look out for:

• Horizontal Cracks: A horizontal crack stretching across several bricks often indicates that your foundation is being pushed upwards by the soil.

However, if your contractor can determine that the cracked bricks are not a sign of foundation damage, then they can usually just repair or replace the cracked bricks and the surrounding mortar.
