Common aluminum gutter problems

• Holes: Falling branches and other sharp pieces of debris can punch holes into your gutters. These holes let water out of the gutters and minimize their effectiveness. While the initial hole might be small, the longer it goes unpatched, the bigger it will grow. A qualified contractor can install a patch to close it off before this happens.

• Leaky joints: The joints are the weakest part of any gutter system, and even seamless gutters have seams where the gutter connects to corners and the downspout. If you notice your gutters are leaking, this might be the cause, even if you have seamless gutters.

• Sagging: Aluminum gutters are generally connected to your home through spikes installed in the back. If one of these spikes grows loose, then your gutters may begin to sag as they become filled with rain, putting even more pressure on the remaining spikes. This sagging makes the gutters less effective, and if ignored, there is a risk that the whole gutter will eventually collapse.
