If the outbuilding has been constructed of metal, you’ll be looking for rusted spots on the frame and roof, along with dings and dents. In the case of metal structures, removing rust as soon as possible is imperative to prolonging the lifespan of the outbuilding, whereas dents and other small imperfections can be easily popped back out with a rubber mallet. If rust has rotted out holes in the frame, a more involved repair will be needed to fill in and even out the offending area. In the case of a porch, there are some different areas you’ll need to have inspected, including deck boards, footings, and piles. Most times, animals could make nests below the decking, and footings could crack and heave.
