Whether they’re inside or outside, heavy concrete slabs have the tendency to sink and settle over time, leading to some pretty severe headaches for homeowners. These sinking slabs can result in trip hazards and possible structural issues if left unattended.

The slabs that make up our basements, garages, and foundations are often poured over wet, weak or poorly compacted soil, and eventually, the slab will begin to sink, crack and settle. There are several methods to repair sunken concrete slabs. Mudjacking is the traditional method of concrete lifting, utilizing a slurry of limestone and concrete to fill the voids beneath the surface and support the failing slab. However, this process has its drawbacks.

There is also the option to level the slab with polyurethane foams. These foams have been used in heavy-duty commercial applications with great, long-lasting success, able to lift things such as roadways, airport runways, and rail beds. These foams are strong but light, meaning that they won’t cause the slab to sink back down into the voids as can happen with Mudjacking.

These foams are waterproof, cure incredibly quickly, and are a non-invasive option.
