Some common water softener issues

• System not using salt: This often indicates that you have a salt bridge in the brine tank, which is a hard crusting of salt that covers the water and prevents proper operation.

• Water level too high: If the brine tank level is too high, this can indicate mechanical problems like a crooked/broken brine tank float switch or could be a sign of something less mechanical, like too much dirt. It could also indicate that your home has water pressure that is too high or low.

• No water or low water: A low brine tank water level, or no water at all, can indicate a clogged brine line or valve. Ironically, this could also be a sign of a broken/crooked brine tank float switch, just like with too high of water levels.

• Leaking: This usually indicates damage to the system, often in the form of a damaged valve, tank, or hose. However, this could also be a sign of an installation error, especially if the system is new.
