Choose a countertop material that fits your needs

There are a variety of countertop materials, but here are a few of the more notable ones:

• Granite: This is one of the more expensive options, but for good reason. This natural material is made from a composite of quartz, mica, and feldspar, making it hard and very resistant to scratches. This durability combined with natural beauty makes it very popular.

• Laminate: These inexpensive countertops are attractive and highly customizable with designs that can mimic both wood and stone. However, they are far less durable than many of their stone counterparts.

• Marble: This surface is widely regarded as one of the most attractive options available with its unique natural beauty and gleaming surface. However, marble is difficult to maintain and requires regular sealing. It also scratches easily and is vulnerable to acidic liquids that you will frequently find in kitchens, like lemon juice and wine.

• Butcher Block: These countertops are made from a thick wood that is eco friendly and also boasts great natural beauty. Unfortunately, it is high maintenance and requires sealing, even more frequently than marble.

• Quartz: These countertops offer excellent value, thanks to their incredible durability and resale value. It should be noted though that these countertops are not made of actual Quartz. Instead they tend to be “engineered stone” made in a factory.
