The Real Danger posed by Wastewater

Despite the lower level of harmful pathogens, ingestion can still cause serious illnesses in both humans and animals.

• Category 3: Blackwater- Blackwater is wastewater contaminated with human waste and other harmful pathogens or toxins that could be detrimental to human and animal health. This type of wastewater typically comes from toilets, bidets, and broken sewage pipes, as well as any large scale flooding that includes the rise of seawater, or freshwater from lakes and rivers. This type of wastewater is the most dangerous and destructive due to the massive amount of harmful pathogens. In these situations, any porous materials such as drywall, carpeting, upholstery, and furniture will be unsalvagable. Any contact with Blackwater can be detrimental to both animal and human health.
